Mother’s Day Blog Hop

Hey everyone! Welcome to the Mother’s Day Blog Hop for 2012.  You should have arrived here from Jennifer D’s ScrapDrawer.  If not, please jump to Amanda’s blog to get started.

Mother’s Day is always a tough thing for me to figure out what to do about.  It’s not a birthday or Christmas, which are the main gift giving holidays in our family, but it’s still a time I want to do something for.  I do love and appreciate my mother, after all.  So, I figured the best thing I could do was a scrapbook page for the book I’ve made her.  It’s just something that I add to on occasion, no specific theme, so it wouldn’t matter if it didn’t “fit” the rest of the book, and I didn’t have to do a huge project to show my mom I love her.

So, without further explanation, here’s my page:

That’s my mom!  And, yes… she’s holding me.  I’m about 3 months old, I think.  Anyway… it was a sweet photo, so I tried to keep the rest of it simple.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!  I love you!

If you’re following along the hop, be sure to leave a comment on every blog.  Amanda is pulling a random winner from her blog, and from one of the other blogs.  And, of course, I have a giveaway, too.  Leave a comment here for a chance to win.  Become a follower (there’s an email follow button down on the side bar, if you scroll a bit) or tell me that you already are for a 2nd chance.  Link to my blog from yours, or your FB page, or pin something from here to Pinterest, for a 3rd chance.  Do that before 11.59 pm Saturday 12 May, for your chance.  I’ll announce the winner on Sunday, 13 May (Mother’s Day).

My Mom, the Author!

I’m so stinking proud of my Mom, I can’t stand it!  She’s worked so hard to get her book, Revenge of the Dorkoids: The Secret Club Begins, and it’s finally paid off!  Her book hit Amazon this past weekend.   To celebrate, I’m doing a giveaway/RAK over on my other blog.  For full details, see there!  The prize is a free autographed copy of her book!

Gooooooo Mom!

Awesome Surprise!

Every week over on ClubCK the fabulous editors pick 10 projects from the previous week to highlight.  I love that day.  Most of the time I’ve seen nearly all of the projects in the gallery (because that’s where they’re chosen from).  But, it’s always fun to see which of the fantastic projects have been selected, and there’s always one or two that I hadn’t seen when they’d got posted.  Twice my own layouts have been selected, and that always give you a big thrill of excitement.

It happened again today!  One of mine was featured!  Oh, I do love that feeling.

Here’s the original LO.

It’s part of a project I’m working on for my mom, for Christmas.  In June we went to Jersey Island, in the English Chanel.  It was an absolutely fabulous trip.  I highly recommend anyone to visit.  If you’re interested in the details of the trip, you can read all about it here.  Since I’m in the process of moving (Eeek!  Wednesday!  5 days!) I don’t have any of my scrap supplies, so I’ve been doing some digi scrapping.  So, that’s what this project is part of.  My digi learning!

The designer information:  Papers and wave shapes are from One Little Bird at Oscraps.com.  Fonts are The Kings and Queens Font, Middle Saxony Script and Honey Script all from Dafont.com.  I made the frames for the photos.

My mom’s book is getting published!!! Wooo hoo!

Anyway, the premise of the book is about some kids who are being bullied, and how they handle it. So, she’s looking for some real life bullying stories. If you or your kids have any stories, and you’d be willing to share, her email is HollySBeck (at) gmail (dot) com* and put in the subject line “Bullying Story.”  The more details the better!  (And, there are loads of different types of bullying, from mean text messages to “mean girls” to getting physically bullied.  All of it is useful.)

Thanks for any help! Smile

*I’ve done the email address in that form to keep down the Spam!

Because My Week Hasn’t Been Exciting Enough!

Oh my goodness!  This week has been all sorts of scrappy exciting.  😀  Yesterday I got an enormous package, today I got TWO smaller ones:

From Amanda* (couple of bits got missed out of the original photo… and I couldn’t be bothered to set everything back up and rephotograph it all together, so they’re in two photos.):

From V, who was purging her stash and thought I might enjoy some goodies (especially exciting: my first Grunge Paper!)

Pretty awesome, eh?  Yeah… And, I can hear what you’re thinking:  Wow!  How could the week get any better?!?  I was thinking the same thing, until I discovered THIS!

I got highlighted by CKBlog!  I’ve never been highlighted by anything before!  (Thanks, Annie, for the heads up!)  I was way excited.  It’s not like getting published (which has never been a goal of mine) but it is exciting!  The funny thing is, it’s not a LO I was particularly tickled with.  It’s fine, just not my favourite!  Never mind.  It’s still exciting!

Here’s the original.

The story behind it is I’m working on a project for my Mom of our trip to Arches last year.  Dad loves taking photos, and for some reason (I still don’t understand why) he was loving taking photos of the different flowers.  These were SO not all the flowers I have photos of! But, they are a good selection of them.  It was an ultra quick page (except that I messed it up, so had to redo it . . . twice!)

So, that’s my exciting week!

*Amanda’s got a fun giveaway going on (again!) on her blog.  Go check it out.

Christmas Is Coming!

I love doing Christmas presents 🙂  This year I’ve got 3 going.  Two for my gran and one for my mother.  The two for my gran are mini-albums from our trips this year:  May road trip from Florida (her winter home) to Michigan (her summer home), and September Russian Cruise.  Mom’s is an 8×8 album of our April Arches camping trip (Mom, Dad and me!)

At the moment, I’m working on gathering the supplies.  The chipboard and Cricut deepcut blade for the mini-albums arrived today.  And I’m weeding through the photos from all the trips.  I’ll order the photos in the next couple days.  I’m really anxious to get started!
