CSI 133 – #PWNED

Here’s the CSI Case File for this week!

CSI Case File 133

CSI Case File 133

Ha.  Ha.  So, I have these “friends” who think the funniest thing in the world is to Pink Prank me.  The first year (we have an annual retreat) they pranked me with pink shirts, I happened to be wearing orange.  Seriously, perfect photo to use for Case File 133!

Here are the results:

CSI 133 - Solved

CSI 133 – Solved

This was just fun to make.  And it made me laugh again.  I wrote the journaling using the “How To List” prompt.  Yeah… I had to actually BUY pink paint and ribbon.  I really, honestly, didn’t own any.

So, come play along!  Looking forward to seeing how you solve the case!

Sonic Screwdriver

As you know by now (if you’ve been following for more than just a day or two), I love Doctor Who.  And I’ve corrupted introduced my Best Friend as well.  In fact, we were goofing around all day on FaceBook with various Whovian Quizzes: Which Companion Are You? (River Song, Duh!) and Which Doctor Are You? (11!  Yeay!  Although I’d have been equally happy with 10, 9, 8… you get the idea.  Wait… this means I’ve married myself!) I was out at her house last week (we don’t live in the same TimeZone) and we rewatched the whole of season 7 in preparation for The Event this weekend: 50th Anniversary Special!

For weeks I’d been preparing for that visit, actually, by building a fabulous Whovian Shrine Shadow Box for her for Christmas.  Since I was going to visit shortly before, we decided to swap Christmas presents early, rather than paying to post them.  One of the things I had for the box was the 11th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver.  I bought it off of Think Geek (oh the rapturous joys of that site!)  When it arrived (to my sister’s house), my nephew wanted to see it, so I let him play with it.  He’s NEVER seen an episode of the Doctor.  They’re just  a wee bit too intense for him.  It was under 30 seconds before he’d figured out how to work the screwdriver, though!

Sonic Screwdriver Case File: 97

The LO is also for CSI Case File: 97.  This file had a fun sketch to go along with it, which used a bunch of circle shapes.  I have this awesome stensil I found off Flying Unicorn (they’ve got awesome stuff, seriously, check them out.) that is all urban and boy.   And the circles with the lines and chevron’s coming off them are perfect.  Really perfect.  Like soundwaves rippling off the Sonic Screwdriver.  I used heavy gel medium on watercolour paper, let it dry, the dropped ink from above and let it dry.  Then I fussy cut the whole thing out to use on my LO.  The background paper is from Bassill, and had a premade background harliquin pattern (glossy on white) and I inked a few of the diamonds.  The running turquoise drips are bairly watered down modeling paste that I coloured with ink.  It was a super fun LO to make!

CSI Watch List

A Shared Experience

Every day Mooney and I share our day with each other.  There’s this small problem of living in different States (different timezones, even!)  We don’t let that stop us, though.  Texting is the most wonderful thing, ever!  Unfortunately… it doesn’t work whilst I’m abroad.  Happily, G+ Hangouts does!

Recently I was in Germany, and we texted our day back and forth, more or less as usual.  9 timezones not withstanding!  At one point Mooney said, “You should see our Hangout.  It’s awesome!”
Errr…. okaaaaay…. what have I been doing if not looking at our Hangout?!?

What she meant was, when she opened the window on her computer, it displayed all the photos we’d sent, plus the text box.  And she was right, it pretty much defined “awesome.”  This week’s Case File over at CSI seemed to be the perfect opportunity to scrap the awesome and random that is our daily text exchange.

A view of what it's like in my head.

A view of what it’s like in my head.

The Speech Bubbles house a fantastic quote from Doctor Who.  Amy asked the Doctor, “What’s it like in your brain?”  The Doctor replied, “A great big roller coaster, packed full of geniuses, all going, ‘Wheeeeee!'”  This sums up Mooney’s and my relationship so well, I just can’t tell you!  First of all, I made a Whovian of Mooney.  Introduced her to the wonderful world of Doctor Who.  Of course, she now hates me for this, but she means it in the best possible way.  For those of you who know the show, our relationship is very much like that of Donna (Mooney) and the Doctor (me).  And we’re constantly texting photos of Whovian things, or pins we find on Pinterest, or just… random references (literally, we have a Doctor reference every day.  No joke.  Frequently it’s in the first 10 minutes that we’re up.)  If you look in that photo you’ll see 9 photos all referencing the show.  And the text box even shows us discussing the evil head writer for the show.  (“Moffat!!!”  *Shakes Fist*)  The blue box in the corner is a Police Call Box… which is what the Doctor travels through time in.  Or, a TARDIS which LOOKS like a Police Call Box.  (It was originally a Red Phone Box I got on one of my many visits to the UK.  I altered it with blue nail polish and white French nail tip paint.  And a bit of bling for the light!)  So, we’re maybe *slightly* obsessed with The Doctor.

Journaling reads:
Everyday Mooney and I share our day.  It doesn’t matter if we’re 1 timezone or 9 timezones apart.  This is what our Google Chat looked like one day whilst I was in Germany.  From clothes shopping to city views.  And don’t forget Doctor Who.  Epic…      And Bad Wolf

(Yeah… so that’s another Doctor Who reference.)

You really should go check out the version Mooney put together for her book.  And then make sure you hit CSI and have a go yourself!

And then, log onto Netflix and start watching Doctor Who.  (I recommend starting from scratch, but be patient, it doesn’t really get going until towards the end of the 1st season.  Season 1 Episodes 9/10 – The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances.  That’s where things REALLY get interesting.)

Interesting & Mad

Ok, so… I was just a bit cheeky and slipped my LO into the Child’s Play reveal from last week…. today.

My LO:

The 1st August Challenge is the Doctor’s Kit.  Well, my favourite TV show is Doctor Who.  I used a quote from the Doctor to explain my fun friends, “Anybody remotely interesting is mad, in some way or another.”

Go check out the challenges!  We’re having a bunch of fun over there.  Come play!

Camp Wanna Retreat

Every August I go to this marvelous crop in Washington State.  It’s a group of ladies that all met online.  The ladies may have started off as internet friends (or as some of their families say, “Imaginary Friends”), but they’ve certainly become my REAL friends!  They’ve become my stalwart companions.  I hate that we live so far away from each other!

Camp Wanna Campers (Note… No Pink for me!)

We call our crop Camp Wannahatchanegg (Camp Wanna for short) because a friend who couldn’t make it the 1st year kept asking, “Where are you? Wannahatchanegg?”  It stuck.  And, “Camp” because, well…. it’s a bit of a practical joke atmosphere.  Yeah.  Becky and I may have been known to Saran Wrap Cars.  And even Beds.  Yep.  Beds.  (Short Sheeted, too!)  This year, we were a bit more subdued (but by NO means restrained!)  Rather than wrap the whole car, we just stuck a big old Saran Wrap bow on the windscreen at the end.  And a couple of bits written in window chalk.  Seriously, we were tame!

That didn’t stop the rest of them from practical jokes!  I had the craziest week before leaving for Camp, and only slept 45 minutes before driving 11 hours (I had company, right Vee?)  So I went to be early (well… “early”.  10 pm!)  Came down the next morning… my whole desk was PINKED!  EVERYTHING!

My Pinked Workspace

But don’t worry, I wasn’t the butt of every joke!  Heidi’s husband got her GOOD with an April Fool’s Prank regarding Goats.  We followed up with some Goating of our own!

Goats For Sale!

That tiny hay bale?  LOVE!  Seriously, that MADE the joke.  Way to go Devra and Becky!

There were other shenanigans, but those were the best two.

Thanks, ladies!  It’s the best weekend, ever!  Anxiously awaiting next year… Laurie, how many days left?

CSI: Casefile 76

Here’s a little gem for you. Have you heard of CSI? No, not the TV series! The Scrapbook Challenge site! Colour, Stories, Inspiration!

No? Well you should pop on over and have a look. They’ve always got some fun things happening!

I’ve got a fun layout for this week’s challenge.

For my Evidence, I used
Circles (that double as frames)
Retro Image
Small Repeating Patterns

My Testimony is Inspirational Words

And you can see, I followed the sketch pretty closely.

Loving the Colours they picked, too.

Right. Well, you can still join the challenge. It’s open through this weekend!
