Better Digital Photos & Scrapbooking (Giveaway!)

Creating Keepsakes has just released a new magazine, Better Digital Photos & Scrapbooking (The Digital Issue is here.)

This thing is LOADED with tips for every level of photographer.  Point & Shoot?  Kiss Auto good-bye!  Learning Apertures and ISO?  This is going to be your new best friend.  An old hand?  This has some great tricks.  Even if you don’t need the camera help, there are some amazing composition helps!  Seriously, this thing is bursting with great knowledge.

Then, as if that isn’t enough, there are all sorts of Photo Editing and Digital Scrapping bits!  I’m quite an advanced Digi-Scrapper (even if I do say so myself) and I still learned loads.  And if you’re thinking about dipping your toe but are a bit intimidated and don’t know where to start?  START HERE!!!!  Seriously, it’s wonderful.

As always, it’s full of way awesome inspiration for scrapping.  This month there are some great ideas for those who don’t really enjoy journaling (raises hand).    Thank you, CK for giving us some awesome ideas for how to handle that chronic difficulty!

I don’t know about you, but I always have WAY more photos than I can scrap.  But… I want to scrap them all!  That’s why I really like their “Scrap-By-Number” sketches.  Makes it SO easy to just grab photos and get it done!  The LO I did based on this sketch only took me about 20 minutes!  That’s what I call effective.  Thanks, CK!

Simple Scrapbooks Giveaway

Hey everyone!  Welcome back to my blog!  The editors over at Creating Keepsakes have given me another magazine for one of my lucky readers!

Here’s the sneak peak.

One of the things that occasionally irks me is that it feels to me like there aren’t enough “simple” (read: realistic) pages in the magazines.  After all, most of us don’t have hours and hours to spend on a single LO, and we don’t have the money to spend on it, either!  But this issue has tons of simple, but still visually striking, LOs.  Here’s the one I did using their suggestions:

2 PP background
1 PP split in two for the shaped paper at the bottom
1 CS background for the photos

It only has a couple of embellies, too.  Very simple.  Nothing difficult, but it still looks great!  And it showcases 12 photos!  Love it when I get a load of photos on one LO!

Creating Keepsakes May/June Magazine Giveaway

March/April CK Magazine

Hey everyone… The wonderful people over at CK have given me another magazine to giveaway!  This time it’s the March/April 2012 Monthly Publication.

As always, there are a bazillion awesome ideas in here.  I was particularly happy to use the Digi Sketch you can download!  It’s based off Suzzie Plantamura’s gorgeous LO, The Golden Years.

I love that she’s used so many photos!  I’m all in favour of showcasing the occasional fantastic photo as a single focus piece.  But, if I did 1 photo on each page, I’dnever get anything finished.  I’d never finish a single trip, much less get through an entire year!  So, for me, I’m glad they provide sketches with multiple photos.

Here’s my version (yes, it’s Digi):
